Baseball Leagues set for interleague play

THE Freedom Farm Baseball League and Junior Baseball League of Nassau will participate in a joint initiative aimed at creating more opportunities for their members to participate in interleague play.

The “FF vs JBLN High Five Easter Baseball Tournament” is all set to be hosted at the home complexes for both organisations on April 20.

This tournament is set to be the largest single-day youth baseball event in the island nation’s history as dozens of teams are expected to participate in six contested divisions - T-Ball (ages 4-6), Coach Pitch (ages 7-8), 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15-25.

The top five seeds in each of the six contested divisions will represent their respective league in a 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3 formats.

The Freedom Farm complex in Yamacraw will host the Coach Pitch, 11-12 and 13-14 divisions while the JBLN Field of Dreams in Nassau East will host the T-Ball, 9-10 and 15-25 divisions. Games at both locations will begin at 9am.

The tournament is meant as a fundraiser for both leagues as they celebrate their 30th anniversary of baseball development in the Bahamas.

General admission for adults is $5 at the gate ($4 in advance) and children under 12 are $3 at the gate ($2 in advance). Tickets purchased will be honoured at both sites over the course of the day.
