FREEPORT - A 41-year-old man has been detained for questioning in connection with a robbery at Port Lucaya Marketplace.
ASP Loretta Mackey said a man entered the offices of a tour company around 3.30pm on Monday and started screaming demands at the female employees.
He then reached across the counter and grabbed some cash.
When one of the employees attempted to stop him, the man punched her in the face, ASP Mackey said.
Another employee ran for help, and the man restrained until the police arrived.
Ms Mackey said officers recovered the cash, and a Ford Escape which was reportedly stolen earlier the same day from outside another business.
She said the man is currently detained at the Diah Ward at the Rand Memorial Hospital. Police investigations continue.
