THE Bahamas Association of Chiropractic hosted its first annual seminar on November 11 and 12 at the British Colonial Hilton.
The seminar presenter was professional international speaker, accomplished author and vice president of Parker Chiropractic College, Dr Gilles Lamarche.
Organisers said the BAC seminar had an "excellent turnout" with 10 of the 11 practising Bahamian chiropractors attending the event.
Dr Lamarche spoke on Chiropractic philosophy and described the medical miracles he has experienced in his practice and personal life.
He said: "Most people think the most important system of the human body is the circulatory system or heart, but what tells the heart to continue to beat on its own?
"The answer is the brain and nervous system.
"The nervous system controls everything.
If the nervous system is not working properly because of spinal subluxation, the body will not function optimally.
"As chiropractors, we work to restore the workings of the nervous system, thus allowing the body to heal itself."
Seminar topics at the event included the need to develop a 10-year vision statement for the association that will transform the chiropractic profession in the Bahamas into a mainstream health care choice.
