THIS year's BREEF "Bootleggers' Ball" has attracted more than 60 silent auction treasures - including a one-of-a-kind ocean inspired Astengo & de Lama necklace.
BREEF executive director Casuarina McKinney-Lambert said she is thrilled with the response and the programme of events for the glamorous fundraising evening at Albany this Friday.
She said: "We will recreate the 1920s, and the grand traditions of that era with a mock casino where any winnings are cashed in for prizes, a chance to bid on an array of rich bounty in the silent auction, a bootleggers treasure-trove of raffle and door prizes, engaging Charlston dancers, live music for dancing under the stars with the Dion Turnquest band 'Tingum dem' and Bahamian jazz singer Stazzy, a cocktail party, full open bar and a gourmet dinner prepared by noted Chef Leudders."
Co-chair Etolie Pinder explained that the Bootleggers' Ball will celebrate a time in the Bahamas when our oceans were filled not only with ships laden with barrels of forbidden liquor, but also an abundance of groupers, lobsters and other marine-life.
