BTC today announced the appointment of veteran broadcast journalist Jerome Sawyer to its senior management team.
"We are excited to have someone as qualified and experienced as Jerome Sawyer join our team as part of our ongoing commitment to recruiting the best local talent to become a part of the BTC family," said BTC CEO Geoff Houston.
Mr Sawyer, pictured, whose appointment becomes effective today, will serve as senior manager for public relations, managing BTC's internal and external communications as well as the company's civic involvement in the community. He will report to Marlon Johnson, vice president for brand and communications
"Jerome has a wealth of experience with the local and international media which will be helpful as we work to keep our thousands of customers informed about the evolution of our products and services, no matter where they live in the Bahamas," said Mr Johnson.
"I couldn't be more excited to become a part of such a vibrant team," Mr Sawyer said.
"Telecommunications is the fastest growing and most exciting industry globally, and this gives me an opportunity to be a part of that revolution. Once again I will be in a position to serve the people of the Bahamas by keeping them aware of the developments at BTC."
He said he is especially keen to work with community initiatives. "BTC has a good reputation as a leading corporate citizen and I am excited about the company's commitment to expand its involvement in communities all over the Bahamas, with focus on education, youth, sports and culture," he said.
