A MAN fighting for his life in hospital after being shot several times early yesterday morning.
Police say the 37-year-old was shot in the chest and leg around 1.30am in an area near the junction of Finlayson and Meadow Streets.
He was taken to hospital, where he was last night listed in critical condition.
Police are still uncertain about the circumstances that led to this shooting, and are appealing to members of the public who may have any information to contact their nearest police station.
Police are also investigating the shooting of a 29-year-old woman.
Police say she was standing in front of a club on Comfort Street along with friends when she heard gunshots and realised she had been hit in the leg. She was taken to hospital where she is listed in stable condition.
The police say they are actively investigating both shootings.
In other crime news, a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition was handed over to police by a concerned citizen.
Police say that at around 6.30pm on Wednesday, the Monastery Park resident handed over the items to police after they were found on his property.
