A 22-YEAR-OLD man became the first traffic fatality on Long Island in more than a year when his vehicle ran into a tree.
The accident occurred early Saturday morning on Queen's Highway near Mangrove Bush, where the victim lived.
He was taken to Deadman's Cay Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead.
According to Asst Supt Lucas Armbrister, no one died in a traffic accident on the island in 2011.
A team of officers from the New Providence Traffic Division will go to Long Island to conduct further investigations.
