FREEPORT - A man's body was discovered on the roadside in the Kennedy Drive area early Thursday morning, and police later found his vehicle abandoned several miles away.
The body was identified by police as that of 46-year-old Franklyn McIntosh of North Bahamia.
Police officials are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
Asst Supt Loretta Mackey, press liaison officer, said police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine whether foul play was involved.
Meanwhile, police investigations are continuing into the matter.
According to police reports, sometime around 3.18am police discovered the body of a black man on the side of the road at Kennedy Drive.
Mr Mackey reported that a few hours after the body was found Central Detective Unit officers recovered the victim's car at Watkins Lanes off Pioneer's Way.
"The investigations are in the preliminary stage and the incident has not been classified," Mackey said.
The police are urging members of public who have any information that can assist them with their investigation to contact officers.
