Men killed in police shootout are named

POLICE have released the identities of the two men killed in a recent a shoot out with officers, and records reveal one to be a former murder accused. The Tribune's archives reveal that 20-year-old Robert Outten of Step Street, Fox Hill stood trial on a murder charge in 2010. He, along with 28-year-old Andy Francis, also of Fox Hill, were accused of the 2008 Cabbage Beach stabbing death of Khodee Davis. Davis, a 16-year-old student of Temple Christian High School at the time, was stabbed during an fight between his friends and a group of men. While Outten was acquitted of murder, his co-accused Francis was convicted of the lesser charge of manslaughter after an appeal last year. Last Thursday, officers were reportedly on patrol in the Highbury Park area when they saw the occupants of a dark vehicle acting suspiciously. Police tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped off. A chase followed with police pursuing the vehicle into the St Michael Road area, where the suspects allegedly shot at the police and the police returned fire. According to police sources, the driver and the passenger, ages 20 and 21, were shot in the head and died at the scene. Two others, ages 18 and 19, are in police custody. The 20 year old was revealed to be Outten. The 21 year old is Geovanno Munroe of Cox Street, Fox Hill. Police say they are actively investigating the incident.
