More than 250 children take part in seven-a-side soccer tourney

Over 250 children from six schools and clubs across New Providence took part in the KPMG seven-a-side Football Tournament at St Paul's Sports Fields. All teams played three or four matches in the "round-robin" style tournament with players between the ages of four and 13. The top two teams in each division took part in the finals for the honour of KPMG Champions this year. The school's taking part were Lyford Cay International, St Andrew's, Queen's College, Meridian, FC Nassau and Tambearly. Results are as follows: 5 & Unders Winners - Meridian Runners Up - Lyford Cay 7 & Unders Winners - Tambearly Runners Up - Meridian 9 & Unders Winners - Lyford Cay 1 Runners Up - Lyford Cay 2 12 & Unders Boys Winners - St Andrews Runners Up - Lyford Cay 12 & Unders Girls Winners - Lyford Cay B Runners Up - Queens College All schools experienced some measure of success from the morning's action. Lyford Cay International School would like to thank Simon Townend and KPMG for their continued support of this competitive and fun annual tournament. Tournament director Craig Massey remarked "to see so many kids coming together and enjoying a competitive but fun event." "It makes it worth all the effort involved. The standard of football was very good which reflects the current high levels of football coaching across the schools." Food was on sale throughout the morning from which $700 was raised for Lyford Cay International School's adopted school in Uganda - Tent-makers Academy. The funds will be used to continue to provide breakfast and lunch for all 160 students at the school on a daily basis.
