MARC Taylor slammed a boundary-studded century as the Police beat Western by six wickets to win the Bahamas Cricket Association (BCA) 2011 40-over title at Windsor Park on Sunday.
The tall left-hander hit 11 sixes and nine fours in 114 to lead Police to 259 for four in 28.4 overs. This was in reply to Western's 258 for three in their reduced quota of 35 overs.
Taylor and his brother Gregory Jr (30) posted 127 in 11 overs for the first wicket, laying a firm foundation for the Police innings.
After they were both removed by fast bowler Delbert Barrett, Ashmin Allie (54 not out) and Rudy Fox (34) added another 74 for the third wicket as Police cruised home with over seven overs to spare.
Barrett was the most successful Western bowler with two for 49 while L.
Thomas had one for 24 and Albert Peters one for 55.
Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Western were led to their formidable total through an unbeaten 101 by opener Gregory Irving who struck 14 fours and one six.
Liston was also not out on 47 while Hamilton Gilliard made 31 and Wycliff Atkinson 31. There was a wicket each for Allie, Marc Taylor and Derek Gittens.
At the post-match ceremony, Police captain Gregory Taylor Jr collected the winners' trophy from Jamaica's Honourary Consul to the Bahamas Patrick Hanlan. He and his teammates also collected first-place medals from Hanlan.
Western's skipper Andrew Nash and his teammates collected the runners-up trophy and silver medals.

Meanwhile, Western (the winners) and St Agnes (runners-up) collected the trophies and medals from the 20/20 competition which ended in October.
