Sandals donates computers to charity

THE Sandals Foundation donated 10 computers to two deserving charities - the Bahamas Aids Foundation and the PACE Programme. The Sandals Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Sandals Resorts. The foundation funds educational, community and environmental projects throughout the Caribbean. "We are very happy to make this contribution to these two vital organisations in our community. The work of the Bahamas Aids Foundation and the PACE Programme ensures that some of the most vulnerable members of our population are given a fighting chance at life," said general manager Patrick Drake. The PACE Programme provides education and support to teen mothers and promotes awareness and policies that reduce both teen pregnancy and unplanned pregnancy among young adults. Jacqueline Knowles, programme co-ordinator at PACE, said the Sandals Foundation's donation will ensure that young ladies are given opportunities to make positive contributions to society. "These donations will assist our students in learning technological skills that will allow them to function effectively in society. Your organisation's generosity is greatly appreciated," Ms Knowles said. The Bahamas AIDS Foundation is a non-profit, non-government organisation dedicated to the fight against HIV/AIDS. The mission of the foundation is to support the fight against HIV/AIDS in the community. Board member of the Bahamas AIDS Foundation Dr Vaughan Conliffe said that the donation was greatly appreciated. "We are grateful for the generosity of corporate sponsors like the Sandals Foundation who support our work in the Bahamas," Dr Conliffe said.
