A GUNFIGHT on a bus ended when police shot a 20-year-old man and took him into custody.
An early morning tip-off led officers to stop a jitney on Robinson Road. The caller said a man had been seen with a handgun on the bus while it was travelling south on Market Street at around 7.15am.
When police approached the vehicle, someone opened fire on them. The officers returned fire, hitting a man in an undisclosed area of the body
They quickly took the Emmanuel Drive resident into custody and confiscated a firearm.
He was taken to hospital, treated and discharged, and is now helping the police with their investigation.
Detectives are also investigating a shooting that left a 40-year-old man in hospital.
The incident reportedly took place just after 11pm on Friday. Police said a man was at his home and heard gunshots, then realised he had been hit in the arm.
The victim was taken to hospital by paramedics and is listed in stable condition.
Police are calling on anyone who has information about this incident to contact them immediately.
Also on Friday, Internal Security Division (ISD) officers discovered a handgun after spotting a man acting suspiciously. The officers saw the man while on routine patrol near the corner of Palm Beach Street and Homestead Street at about 8pm.
The man ran when he saw the officers, but was quickly caught.
Police found the gun while searching the immediate area. The man is now in police custody and being questioned.
