Two men accused of murders

Leroy Smith, 25, of Old Boat Alley and Tony Smith, 24, of Kelly Lane appeared before Chief Magistrate Gomez at the magistrates' court on Thursday. In the first arraignment, it was alleged that the pair shot and killed 25-year-old Triston Bartlett on Wednesday, February 8. The second murder charge claims the duo, with 37-year-old Leslie Bowe, conspired to kill, and killed, Eugene Stuart on Thursday, March 2. The men were not required to enter a plea due to the nature of the alleged offences. The attorneys of Leroy Smith and Tony Smith - Jomo Campbell and Michael Kemp -- made allegations of police brutality against their clients. Chief Magistrate Gomez ordered the accused men to be examined and treated. They are due back at court on Wednesday, May 23, to be served with a voluntary bill of indictment. This will forward the case directly to the Supreme Court for trial. All three men were remanded in prison until the end of the trial.
