EDITOR, The Tribune.
It was some years ago when a public outcry was made pertaining to the vulgarity on BET and eventually it was removed from the cable network.
I must say, that it did not matter to me when BET was removed because I was appalled at what was shown on BET also.
The vulgar dance videos that caused BET to be removed from Cable Bahamas line up was in no comparison to the lesbianism, nudity and profanity that the bad girls club promotes.
The nudity is blurred in the private parts and the profanity is bleeped every minute and the lesbianism is just shown out right.
There are many young girls watching this filth that could be influenced by the misguided conduct carried out by those half naked individuals on that show.
The bad girls club should go the way of BET and as I mentioned, it was a public outcry for BET to be removed, but this is my personal outcry for the bad girls club to be removed from the Cable Bahamas Network.
Whatever became of that promise that Ms Wilson made to refund all the Cable subscribers that were affected by the freezing and pixellating of the cable system throughout the entire year of 2011 and it continued into the early part of 2012 also?

I too concur with Mr. Russell! I will go further to recommend that OXYGEN channel be removed from the cable listing!

I can understand Mr. Russel's disdain for the program in question but I cannot agree with the call to remove it from the air. If we all choose to snuff out entertainment that we personally disagree with then we will soon be surrounded by perpetual silence. In the case of the bad girls club and BET we can all agree that they tended to be vulgar at times but the truth of the matter is that you have the power to decide what you are going to watch in your own homes. If you disagree with a particular program then turn it off or watch something else. The argument that we must protect our children by silencing media is a call to be lazy parents. As parents it is our duty to monitor what our kids watch and if you cannot or are unwilling to then just remove the television from your home. We cannot allow freedom of speech to be squashed just because you dont agree with it.
