PRIME Minister Perry Christie remained tight lipped over whether or not any action will be taken against National Insurance Board chairman Gregory Moss yesterday.
Speaking to the press during a school tour, Mr Christie affirmed his government’s commitment to doing “what is right” in the debacle between the chairman and NIB director Algernon Cargill.
Mr Christie last week announced that a report has been ordered into claims against both men after Mr Cargill’s suspension and resulting lawsuit.
In a Supreme Court writ, the director has alleged that the corporation twice came close to missing monthly payments to hundreds of Bahamian pensioners after its chairman revoked management’s authority to “manage cash flow.”
Citing a power struggle at the top of NIB, Mr Cargill also added that he informed the Prime Minister of his concerns prior to his suspension last month.
Mr Christie acknowledged receipt of Mr Cargill’s letter, and added that he received negative information concerning both parties; however, he did not respond to criticisms towards his government’s decision to only suspend Mr Cargill until the inquiry has been completed.
Mr Christie commended the opposition for its monitorial role, and added that his government would act in the best interest of the Bahamian people.
Last night, Opposition Leader Hubert Minnis charged that an investigation should be conducted at the corporation by an independent forensic team to ensure transparency. He also called for all firings and contracts for new employment to be tabled in parliament.

It seems like the PLP is attracted to shady people, I know the culture in the Bahamas have a lot to do with it but Perry Christie needs to be more assertive. HAI wouldn't allow these things to be going on and that is why a lot of FNM MP's that may have a crook mentality wouldn't even try to do stuff like that under the him. The Bahamas just needs more people that have a heart for the country to get in position.

And that's from any of the 3-4 parties to independents. Just need people that will put the country (whole country) first.

I agree with you, I'm not for the FNM by any means because I know they had to go, but the PLP isn't any better in fact they look worse. I was pulling for the under dog to win and hopefully come next election people will think that just maybe another party may make a difference.

You right, I don't think Christie is a crook because you could take a look at his and Ingraham account that they submitted and unless they have stash it somewhere else it doesn't show a lot of money from someone who has been in politics for so long. Now if you look at these MP's account that just started you can tell something is fishy about them, the main problem is Christie just let them do as they feel.
