A MAN was arraigned in Magistrate’s Court yesterday in connection with an early morning murder in a nightclub parking lot.

Benson Ismy, 26, stood shackled and handcuffed before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez facing a charge of murder in connection with the country’s 71st homicide for 2012.

It is claimed that on Saturday July 7, he murdered Jerome Davis.

Davis, alias “Sticky”, was shot in the back of the head in the Westridge Plaza parking lot following a brawl that started in a nightclub in the same plaza around 3am.

Ismy is alleged to have committed the crime and was not required to enter a plea.

He will be served with a Voluntary Bill of Indictment when he returns to Magistrate’s Court on November 27.

The Bill will fast-track the case to the higher court for trial.

Before Ismy was remanded to prison, he and 21-year-old Troy Webb were charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The offence – possessing a .357 revolver and two bullets – is alleged to have been committed on July 8, a day after the nightclub shooting took place.

Both men pleaded not guilty.

Webb’s attorney Tamara Taylor asked the court to consider bail for her client.

The prosecution objected to bail, but the attorney argued that her client had been in police custody since the weekend, allowing for plenty of time to determine if he has a prior record.
