FORMER Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham said yesterday he has no interest in being knighted and if given the opportunity he would turn it down.
Speaking at a press conference at the House of Assembly, Mr Ingraham said being knighted was “out of the question.”
“I left three knighthoods on the table that Mr Christie can dispense to whomever he wishes,” he said. “Would I do it? The answer is no, under no circumstance. The last Prime Minister of the Bahamas who was knighted, knighted himself. I didn’t do it to myself and I do not want anyone to do it to me and if asked I will say no. My name is Hubert Ingraham, I do not need nothing before that.”
Sir Lynden Oscar Pindling was knighted by her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II in 1983. He was made a Knight Commander (KCMG) of the order of Saint Michael and Saint George on the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List.
At that time, Sir Lynden, 52, was the longest serving member of Parliament and the longest serving Head Of Government in the English-speaking Caribbean.

Any way Sir Arthur can talk Liz into giving the good residents of Cooper's Town a much need break away from the man, by letting Hubert move into her paid for by taxpayers Buckingham big House?
Now, i curious as hell to see the names them three he says he left on his former "trusted" law partner's desk, to have the GG send off to old Liz. for they Knighthood?
I'm betting that he close Comrades 'Boogaloo' and Brian Moree made he list?

Tal I really don't think you read and understand what he said, He could of knighted 3 more Bahamians before elections but he didn't he left them for the current PM. I don't know if we read the same article because NO names were mentioned, you seem to be so intrigued by the former PM that you will use any reason to try and discredit him. The Man was Simply the Best and not to mention one of the most highly respected leaders to come out of this country and region!

Comrades before the students erroneously take to the gospel according to the lawyer/fisherman from Cooper's Town, who never tires when it comes to knocking the late PM Pindling, for just about anything, including the knighting of himself, might you be reminded that
All Pindling did was to take a page right out of the UBP's own manual, on old Liz conferring royal knighthoods upon Bahamaland's leaders.
Flip to page 124 of the UBP manual and right there you will see that in 1959 our first Premier had in fact requested our 61st British Governor-General Sir Robert Stapeldon to call up Liz at Buckingham to ask her to make "Pops" one of her knights.
Now, whose da best at discrediting his fellow natives, me or Hubert?

Speaking about rum and coke, I use to work for a hotel back home during his first term and HAI stayed there a few days, he probably had a few of his security because you could hear conversation going on in the room, after they left and I inspect the room, it was a bar of empty rum bottles in there. I taught to myself that was enough rum to get a party drunk.
