A WEEKEND of violence and bloodshed left one woman dead after her throat was slit in a domestic dispute, and four men injured in two separate shootings.

The woman, of Quarry Mission Road, unofficially identified as Kitley St Brave, became the country’s latest homicide victim after an altercation with a 27-year-old man ended with her throat being slit.

The murder, which became the country’s 75th for the year, surpassing 2008’s total by one, reportedly took place on Friday morning at about 3am.

However, it was not reported to police until more than 12 hours had passed, sometime around 7pm.

Reports reaching The Tribune indicate that a 27-year-old man, who is in police custody, went to the Potter’s Cay Dock police station and told them about a physical argument that “accidentally” ended fatally at his residence on Charles Vincent Street.

The man and the woman were reportedly armed with cutlasses and knifes.

When police arrived on the scene that evening, having picked up the 27-year-old to accompany them to the address, they found a slim, dark-skinned woman in a bedroom, lying on her back in a pool of blood with a severe laceration to the throat.

The incident is being actively investigated by police. However, officers are not certain if or when they will charge the man now in custody in connection with the death.

While this incident was being investigated, police received reports that two men were shot late Saturday evening.

Two men were reportedly at Frogman Lane off Deveaux Street around 11:30pm when they were approached by a dark male armed with a gun and shot multiple times.

They were rushed to hospital and remain in stable condition.

Two hours later, policemen on patrol in the Kemp Road area ended up in a high speed chase after receiving a tip that three men in a white Honda Accord had firearms on them.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle in the area of Sutton Street, however, the driver accelerated and a chase followed east along Shirley Street.

The high speed chase ended in Fox Hill’s Step Street area when the men got out of the car and fired at police.

Police returned fire and two of the three men were hit while the third man got away.

Police are actively investigating both incidents.

Keep up the good work cops. Now just hope the residents of Fox Hill aren't like those of Key West Street whom expect the police not to return fire when being shot at.

We need to resolve disputes without violence.
Note to Tribune: The plural form of knife is knives, not knifes.

LAMECH JOHNSON - "The murder, which became the country’s 75th for the year, surpassing 2008’s total by one.." Really now, 2008? I don't know who these reporters are, but they can't be Bahamian. It's almost as if you guys are praying for the murder rate to exceed last year's figure... Yes... that would be 2011 in case you don't know. People are dying, Tribune. Stop the politics. ELECTION IS OVER. The police are doing an outstanding job. At least try, I know it's hard, but find a way to support them.

No bail for the man who merdered kitley St.brave. Put him in jail and throw the key in the ocean, by enagua. or order 3 wild lions and put him and them in the prison yard, with a short school skirt and some boots and a bra and give him a cutless to fight with the lions, and let the family watch them kill him.
And my cundolaance to the family, I hope god give you justice,
may kitley's soul rest in peace.
