Teen in court over election night murder

POLICE arraigned in court yesterday a teenager suspected of being involved in one of two May 7 election night murders.

Jeffery Hepburn, 18, of Dunmore Street appeared before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez handcuffed and shackled to face a murder charge.

It is claimed that on May 7, at 11 o’clock on election night, Hepburn shot and killed 42-year-old Bridgette Williams.

Williams, of Bain and Grants Town, was repeatedly shot and then rolled over by a car following an argument that took place between the occupants of a Honda Inspire vehicle and Rashad Williams, son of the victim.

The incident took place near Dunmore Avenue and Balliou Hill Road.

Hepburn was not required to enter a plea to the murder charge.

He was remanded to prison as he is not eligible for bail.

His case is being forwarded directly to the Supreme Court for trial through a Voluntary Bill of Indictment.
