For the second consecutive year, Ryan Sweeting has advanced to the second round of arguably the most noteworthy and legendary grand slam.

Sweeting advanced to the second round of the men's singles draw of the Championships at Wimbledon when his opponent Potito Starace retired when trailing 6-2, 2-0.

He will advance to face 8th seed Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia, who booked his place in the second round after beating David Nalbandian 6-4, 7-6 (4), 6-2.

The Bahamian-born Ryan Sweeting saw an early exit in the first major of the year on the ATP Tour. Sweeting was eliminated from both the doubles draw and main draw in the first round of the Australian Open.

This year, Knowles is teaming up with Australian Paul Hanley, a competitor whom he has had many fierce battles with across the net from each other.

The unseeded duo is slated to play their first round match against the American team of Scott Lipsky and Rajeev Ram, either on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Knowles, 40, has not played since he and Xavier Malisse of Belgium got eliminated in the third round of the French Open at Roland Garros a couple weeks ago.
