FREEPORT - Two primary school students were hit by a car as they walked from school early this week. Police are appealing to motorists to be vigilant while driving near school zones.
Asst Supt Loretta Mackey reported that one student was discharged from hospital, while the other was detained.
She said the accident occurred around 3.30pm on Tuesday on East Sunrise highway, just east of Coral Road, involving a Ford Taurus car.
Ms Mackey said the driver was travelling east on Sunrise Highway when the accident occurred.
An ambulance took the students to the Rand Memorial Hospital for treatment.
"Drivers are advised to pay attention to children running/walking between vehicles in their attempt to cross the street between 7:30am and 9:15am and then again from 2:30pm to 4:30pm," she said.
