THREE men convicted for the 2011 home invasion and murder of a phone card vendor must wait another five days for their sentence.

James Mombranche, 19, of Winder's Terrace; Rodney Johnson, 20, of Garden Hills; and Ricardo Brown, 23, of Gilbert Street, will return to the Supreme Court on May 9.

Senior Justice Jon Isaacs, who can grant a maximum sentence of life in prison, considers them deserving of that punishment for the murder of 28-year-old Charles Chrysotome.

The men had broken into Chrysotome's Domingo Heights apartment with intent to rob him the night of February 28, 2011.

Mombranche, the youngest of the three, allegedly fired the fatal shot.

The three maintained innocence of the matter throughout trial, but were unanimously convicted by a jury on February 23.

The young convicts were expected to be sentenced yesterday after the judge and counsel in the case listened to probation and psychiatric reports from officers of the Rehabilitative Services department.

However, prosecutor Anthony Delaney told Senior Justice Isaacs that the psychiatric reports were not ready and asked for an adjournment until then.

After consulting with defence attorneys Terrel Butler, Calvin Seymour and Shaka Serville, the judge rescheduled the sentencing for May 9.

Am I the only one noticing that these persons committed the offence for which they were convicted in 2011 and that a little over a year these men have been arraigned, tried and convicted!
