POLICE are still unsure of the circumstances that lead to the shooting deaths of five people within a 48-hour period.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Anthony Ferguson said police are still trying to piece together what happened between Monday night and Wednesday afternoon.

"We have not arrested anyone but we are making progress in our investigation in respect to the Kemp Road, Pinewood and Chippingham murders. We are encouraged though that we will solve these crimes," he said.

"We are still trying to determine why these incidents occurred. We are not very clear on what happened but as we continue to probe we will know better. The killing of a person is a serious issue and we have to deal with each murder case by case," he said.

ACP Ferguson said while police are not sure what the motives were behind the shooting, he denied rumours they were politically motivated.

He said: "We do not have any information to suggest that any of the murders were politically motivated or had anything to do with politics."

Mckeno John Brown, 26, was shot and killed while at his parents house in Pinewood shortly after 3pm on Wednesday.

Mr Brown was in the front yard when he was approached by a man in a dark coloured vehicle. He died on the scene.

Less than an hour later, David De'Angelo Marshall, 26, was shot multiple times while at the car wash he owned in Chippingham. He also died on the scene.

Around 12.30am, also on Wednesday 28-year-old Diallo Webster was at a bar in Kemp Road when he was approached by a dark coloured vehicle.

The occupants opened fire leaving him seriously wounded.

He was taken to hospital where he died a short time after his arrival.

ACP Ferguson is appealing to members of the public with any information to contact police.

Meanwhile, a man is fighting for his life in hospital today after being shot early yesterday morning.

The incident took place shortly after midnight at Fifth Street and Coconut Grove.

According to police, the man was shot several times in the abdomen and taken to hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

Active police investigations are continuing.
