A BARGE off Montagu shore has been
branded an eyesore by residents and a potential threat.
Last Wednesday morning, October 30, an old rusted tug boat pulled up to the derelict sand barge anchored off of Dicks Point and tied up to the barge.
The barge was listing to the starboard and clearly had water in its hold, it was reported to The Tribune.
The tug was tied up for several hours and pumped it out and the barge was upright again.
Then the tug boat pulled away leaving the barge where it was moored.
Residents want to know why the barge, which is believed to be privately owned, has to be anchored where it is.
They fear it is too close to homes and risks causing danger if it breaks loose during bad weather, potentially threatening people and property.
