THREE men were charged with the murder of Desmond Collie - the brother of South Beach MP Cleola Hamilton.

Lashated Saunders, 22 of Windsor Lane; Donnatello Anderson, 19, of Redland Acres and Mario LaFleur, 18, of Redland Acres appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Carolita Bethell.

It was alleged that on Sunday, October 28, the trio being concerned together with others did intentionally and by means of unlawful harm cause the death of Desmond Collie.

They also were charged with attempted murder - attempting to cause the death of Antonio Neely.

Police Prosecutor Assistant Superintendent Ercell Dorsette told the court the case could be heard before the Supreme Court on December 7, prompting attorney Calvin Seymour - who was representing Saunders - to question if the date was too early.

Magistrate Bethell agreed that December 7 seemed early and asked Mr Dorsette: “Are you sure you’ll be ready.”

He said it ‘should be’ sufficient time.

The men were remanded to police custody until their next court appearance.

Soon the jail will need expansion. Man I hope crime gets under control in The Bahamas.
