Resorts World Bimini Bahamas, the multi-million dollar gaming facility set to open in the 2013 first quarter, has unveiled renderings showcasing the completed venue.
The 10,000 square foot casino, located within the Bimini Bay Resort, will introduce a new concept to the destination and feature state-of-the-art gaming that includes popular table games, slots and a sports book within a modern South Beach dcor, entertainment bar and restaurant lounge.
“With interiors showcasing a unique, chic and modern design, the casino is ideally positioned within the resort, enjoying serene vistas of the turquoise waters and the resort’s mega yacht marina,” said Dana Leibovitz, president of Resorts World Bimini Bahamas.
“We are also already considering additional entertainment amenities for phase two of the casino that will further make Bimini Bay a distinctive destination.”
The casino is being launched by a partnership between RAV Bahamas, developer of the Bimini Bay Resort & Marina and Rockwell Island Beach Estates and Genting Malaysia Berhad.
The new casino is projected to create 130 Bahamian jobs, as well as indirect employment opportunities for Biminites.
“This new casino is the first step in our plans to develop and showcase Bimini as a world-class leisure destination. The benefits to the local economy will be vast as we continue to expand our business with Resorts World Bimini,” said Leslie Bethel, RAV Bahamas’ chief operating officer.
Additional developments include a high-speed ferry service from Florida to Bimini offered by Balearia’s Bahamas Express, which will launch in mid-November 2012. Resorts World Bimini and Bimini Bay Resort & Marina are also working on attracting additional airlift and transportation to the island.

How about giving the casino a "Bimini look"?
Bimini Bay is trying to "transform" Bimini into South Florida. They are not making Bimini a "distinctive destination," they are making this island seem generic, with the same cliche amenities that every other "luxury" resort has.
They see this island as nothing but real estate to sell and profit off of, and the Bahamian press continues to run free advertising for them over and over.
They used to claim 200 jobs with the casino, then it was 160, now it's 130.
The Tribune needs to stop running ads for Bimini Bay, and start reporting on the realities of that resort. Biminites are not being represented by the press, or our elected officials in Nassau.

What a pile of rubbish! Why would someone from the South Florida area want to travel to Bimini to see the 'South Beach' look when all they have to do is stay home and drive to Miami? Why not consider a Fountain of Youth, Ernest Hemingway connection or even a big game fishing theme that Bimini is known for? Think people, think!
