BTC Update # 11
BTC technicians are working around to restore services disrupted by Hurricane Sandy. Here is a the latest on service disruptions across the Bahamas. Here is the latest on service disruptions across the country:
In New Providence, there are landline and DSL/internet disruptions in East Bay Street (Church Street to Mackey Street) Canon Pugh Estates, Faith Gardens, Emerald Coast, Jackaranda, Union Road, and Marshal Road. There could be localized landline disruptions due to downed wires. There are disruptions in cell service in the general vicinities of Arawak Cay, Perpall Tract, and Poinciana Drive.
Bimini is still experiencing an island wide commercial power outage. BTC generators have been engaged and cellular and landline service is available. There are localized outrages due to downed wires.
In Exuma, copper and fiber cables have been detached from poles but there is no visual damage. There are disruptions in Farmer’s Cay in landline and internet services. Cell service is available in this area.
Commercial power is down west of Farmer’s Hill. The Steventon cell site is down. All other settlements are experiencing degradation of cell service due to antennas being blown out of alignment. Williams’s Town commercial power is still down- generators have been engaged, multiple poles are down and fibre & copper cables are detached from poles. Cables have been temporarily secured to avoid further damage in this area and landline, cell and internet services are available. There are also reports of approximately five homes that have received extensive damage in this area. There are localized landline and internet service disruptions due to downed wires.
In Long Island, landline and cellular services are available in Greys & Salt Pond. Hamilton’s landline and internet services are available, but cell services are down. From Militant to Cape Santa Maria, landline and DSL/internet services are down due to commercial power outages. Cell services are down in the following areas: Millers, Stella Maris, Seymours, Roses and Mortimores. From Millers to Alligator Bay, there is no landline and internet service due to a commercial power outage. From Dunmore to Gordon’s, there are no landline or dsl/internet services available due to commercial power outages. Cell service is available in Clarence Town, Deadman’s Cay, Greys, Salt Pond, and Simms. A damage assessment team is on island.
In Mayaguana, Crooked Island, Long Cay & Acklins, landline and cell services are available but cell service could experience degradation due to antennas being blown out of alignment.
Inagua’s landline and dsl/internet service is available, but cell service is down.
In San Salvador, Sandy Point is experiencing disruptions in landline services due to antennas being out of alignment. In Polaris, landline service is available but cell services are down due to antennas being out of alignment. In United Estates, landline and internet service is available but cell service is down. There are localized outages due to wires being down.
In Rum Cay, cell service is down. Landline service is available, but there are localized outages due to wires being down.
In Abaco, all services have been disrupted in Marsh Harbour. In Sandy Point, there was a fire at the DC power plant and two dishes are down resulting in a disruption of service. In Castaway Cay, dishes fell from towers, resulting in a disruption of service. In Cherokee Sound, all landline service has been restored, but there is no cellular service. Between Hope Town and Manowar Cay, there is a fiber outage which has affected landline and cell services. Service in Fox Town, Cooper’s Town, Treasure Cay have been restored. All surrounding cays need antenna realignment and there is degradation of cell service.
In Andros, there is no service available in Fresh Creek to Mastic Point due to commercial power outages. No network damage has been reported. There are approximately 100 customers affected due to dropped wires.
Riggers have been deployed to realign antennas in the Berry Islands. There are service disruptions throughout the island but no network damage.

While a tribune could veto any act of the senate, the assemblies, or the magistrates, he could only veto the act, and not the actual measure. Therefore, he had to physically be present when the act was occurring. As soon as that tribune was no longer present, the act could be completed as if there had never been a veto. Thank you.
