A POLICEWOMAN has denied taking $1,300 from a woman promising to expunge her traffic tickets from the police’s system.
Constable Shokkia Hinsey, 27, of Sandilands Village appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Carolita Bethell yesterday on two counts of fraud by false pretences.
It is claimed that between June 28 and July 31, she defrauded Shenique Major of $800 by dishonestly claiming that the cash would be used to cancel outstanding traffic tickets and warrants, knowing she was not authorised to do so. It is further claimed that Hinsey did the same on August 31, this time collecting $500 from Ms Major.
The constable pleaded not guilty to the allegations against her and was granted $7,500 bail with two sureties as there was no objection by the prosecution.
She stands trial on December 14.

Does anyone who live in the Bahamas actually surprised by this?
The answer to that should be more troubling than the actual incident.
