FREEPORT – Police seized over $200,000 worth of suspected cocaine, which was found hidden in a bucket inside a vehicle, police reported on Thursday.
According to reports, officers were conducting a road check around 1:30pm on Wednesday in the Settler’s Way area when they observed the occupant of a white-coloured 2005 Oldsmobile Alero driving in a suspicious manner.
Officers beckoned the driver to stop, but he refused to obey and attempted to avoid capture.
Officers pursued the vehicle until it eventually came to a stop in bushes on East Indian Man Road and Balao Road area, where the driver fled and made good his escape.
During a search of the vehicle, a red five-gallon bucket, containing nine square-taped packages of suspected cocaine, was discovered by officers.
Inspector Terecita Pinder reported that the drugs have an estimated street value of $225,000.
