A BUS driver became the country’s latest murder victim when he was shot and robbed Monday evening.

It happened around 6:15pm in the area of Toote Shop Corner.

Police say the bus driver was on the corner with a passenger, a Defence Force Officer, when a gunman got onto the bus and demanded cash.

He robbed the driver and the passenger of an undetermined amount of money before shooting both men and fleeing on foot.

Both victims were taken to hospital by ambulance, but the driver died of his injuries a short time later. The passenger is said to have been treated and discharged.

Police have not yet identified the victim, but The Tribune understands he is 24-year-old Gregory Adderley, also known as “Blacks”.

The suspect is described as a dark male, who was dressed in brown khaki pants, a white shirt and white tennis.

Anyone with information on this latest murder is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.

In other crime news, two 18-year-old boys are in custody after they were arrested by police in separate incidents for possession of dangerous drugs on Monday.

The first incident occurred around 2:45pm, in the Delancy and Augusta Streets area.

Police say Mobile Division officers were on patrol when they saw a suspect acting suspiciously in a Toyota Avalon.

Officers searched the suspect and a quantity of what is believed to be marijuana was found. He was arrested and taken into custody.

The second incident occurred around 2:55pm, in the Kemp Road area.

Mobile Division officers were on patrol when they saw a man acting suspiciously. A search of the man was conducted by the officers and a quantity of suspected marijuana was found. He was arrested and taken into custody.

Investigations continue in both matters.
