POLICE were led on a high-speed chase yesterday before taking two men, ages 49 and 25, and a 20-year old woman into custody in connection with an unlicensed firearm.
The officers were on patrol on Baillou Hill Road shortly before 1am when they observed a grey Nissan Sentra with several occupants who were acting suspiciously.
When the officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, the occupants drove off at high speed.
A chase throughout the Coconut Grove area ensued.
The vehicle was finally brought to a stop by police on Baillou Hill Road, but the occupants got out and fled on foot.
They were all caught, and a search turned up a unlicenced firearm.
The three persons are currently being questioned.
In other crime news, police removed three illegal firearms off the streets of New Providence in separate incidents on Wednesday.
A shotgun was found in Williams Lane off Kemp Road and a handgun was found in an abandoned building on Thatch Palm Avenue, Pinewood Gardens. No one was arrested.
In the third incident, police conducted a search in the Seven Hills area and found a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.
A 34-year-old suspect was then taken into custody for questioning.
