FREEPORT – Police have yet to identify the body discovered in the Hunters area on Thursday.
Inspector Advardo Dames said around 6pm that day, the police got reports that a black man had been found unresponsive on the beach in the area of Bayshore Road.
Paramedics were dispatched and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The body was transported to the Rand Memorial Hospital, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
Inspector Dames said foul play is not suspected.
Police are also investigating an industrial accident in which a man was seriously injured.
According to reports, at around 6.15pm on Thursday, the victim, an employee of a construction company in Freeport, was hurt while operating a machine.
He is currently in stable condition at the Rand Memorial Hospital.
