POLICE arrested four people this weekend in connection with two separate killings, one of which involved two bodies found in a car, burnt beyond recognition.

In the second incident, a 21-year-old man became the country’s 49th homicide victim after he was gunned down while walking through a track road.

Officers are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a fourth body, found last night in a boat in Nassau Harbour. However this was said to be a sudden death and foul play is not suspected at this time.

CDU chief Paul Rolle said that a 23-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman had been arrested yesterday for questioning in connection with the burnt bodies.

In the shooting incident, two men aged 20 and 24 years old were said to be in custody.

Officers also confiscated a handgun when the men were arrested in the Sunlight Village area off East Street.

According to reports, the 21-year-old victim was walking through a track road near Thompson Lane with another man and woman when he was fired upon sometime around 10pm Saturday.

The young man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Mr Rolle, who said that police would identify the victim today.

Investigators will have to wait for DNA testing to uncover the identities of the two people found burned beyond recognition Saturday.

The charred remains were discovered by officers responding to a bush fire off Carmichael Road sometime around 6:30pm.

Fire services found a Dodge vehicle alongside the burning bush on an unpaved road west of Bacardi Road. The bodies were discovered after the blaze was extinguished, according to police.

Anyone with information that can assist investigations is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.

Murder rate was reported as trending downward 38% in March... I just wish if there is nothing to say they would not resort to rubbish. If on the other hand, the murder rate is actually down 38% in December, proudly report that. Until then do the work to get it down.

Okay...I am tired of reading the newspapers now. Why aren't we promoting the good things and making them the top stories? I am so tired of hearing about who got stabbed up, shot, robbed, shoot up, beat up...dead, dying, killed, murdered... It is all too depressing. Can you imagine the tourists who are here for a week and are reading the papers each day? I would order in room service every day and don't anywhere except to the airport... What in the world is going on in Nassau? Could you at least, once a week, make your feature story, your headline story? Reading the news is giving me a headache.
