A 25-year-old man became the country’s latest murder victim when in the heat of an argument he was stabbed in the head Wednesday evening.

His death, according to police, has brought the murder count to 84 for the year.

Police say the victim was involved in an argument with another man around 6:30pm on Lightbourne Street in Yellow Elder when he was stabbed in the head and lower back.

The victim was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle where he died of his injuries a short time later.

Police report that a 39-year-old suspect was taken into custody and is assisting police with their investigations.

Police have not yet identified the victim, but The Tribune understands he is Carlos Newbold of Lightbourne Street.

Anyone with information on this homicide is asked to contact police at 911 or 919, the Central Detective Unit at 502-9991 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 328-TIPS.

Police also arrested a “most wanted suspect’’ in connection with the country’s 83rd murder.

According to reports around 3:45pm on Wednesday, Selective Enforcement Team officers, acting on intelligence, went to the area of Carmichael and Bacardi Roads, where they arrested 22-year-old Kevin Michael Glinton of Milton Street, who is wanted by police for questioning in a recent murder that occurred at John Road last week Wednesday.

Police say around 9:30pm, the victim was walking on John Road when he was approached and shot several times by a man he knew.

The suspect ran in an unknown direction.

The victim was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries a short time later. He was later identified as Denero Louis.

Investigations into both matters are continuing.
