DNA Leader Branville McCartney yesterday denied his public profile has influenced how police are treating his brother’s murder investigation.

His comments came after speculation rose that police were giving Kurt McCartney’s murder, “special attention” because of his elder brother’s political profile.

Speaking with The Tribune yesterday Mr McCartney said he sympathizes with all persons that have lost loved ones to murder.

“If I could, I would give a reward for the capture of everyone that has been murdered in this country. Believe me when I tell you that, if I could I would. My brother was very special to me and my family and although there were other persons who have been murdered, they’ve always had a special place and their family, in my heart. So I sympathize with them as well, I’ve always sympathized with them, I want to see our country be a safe place, which it’s not,” he said.

“I know the police are busy, they don’t take my calls. I know the police are busy and I think they’re doing an excellent job with the resources they have. They don’t take my calls when I call, which is understandable because they have a lot of things to do as a matter of fact I have spoken to the police officer in charge and he has said he’s gonna have to get back to me because he’s on some other matters and I understand. They have limited resources and they are doing their best they can and the circumstances in this country, it’s not a good place.

“We offered a reward and I know they may be getting quite a number of calls, but I cannot comment on whether or not the police has taken a special interest. I think all the cases, all murder cases, are equally important. They have their hands full. I see it, I’ve tried calling the police several times and they just could not even speak with me because they’re busy. I know they’re doing their best.”

Mr McCartney said he has faith the person or persons responsible will be found and brought to justice as well as other murderers.

“They are going to get these people,” he said, “whoever is responsible, they’re going to get them and I just pray that they get other persons who have been committing murder and reeking havoc on this country. We must stop playing with these culprits and get serious so that they realize that there are consequences to their actions.”

Police currently have eight persons in custody, six women and two men, in connection with Kurt McCartney’s death.

No one has been charged with his murder. Police say they suspect that others have information relating to the case, but are holding out.

On Monday, the McCartney family offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Kurt’s death.

The McCartney family can well afford to post a $50,000 reward and more power to them. The reward will only be paid out upon the arrest and "conviction" of the accused person(s). As for the rest I will leave it up to families of the many hundreds with no one in jail for the killings of their loved ones, to weigh in on all the other aspects? I have known Bran's father for many, many years and I can but begin to feel the deep pain being experienced by Comrade Kurt's family.

It is not unusual for police to offer rewards in high profile cases. Not to assume they do it as preference treatment, but when a high profile person, be it a policeman, doctor, politician, judge, lawyer or businessman is killed, execution style even, it puts the whole community on edge and sends the message that no one is safe. So police would like to solve these crimes in quick order to give the community a sense of safety and send a message to criminals that they won't get away. Remember some high profile persons were killed in this country, including Sir Harry Oakes in the 1950's,and their murder were never solved. The commissioner's nephew was also slayed not too long ago and no reward was offered in that crime

Many if not most of the recent murders are hardened criminals with rap sheets as long as Long as Long Island and who have killed before sometimes more than once. Some have killed other common killers as well as the innocent. Police in some case managed to lock these thugs up and then people like M Ducile and others use their wits to get them out of jail for the almighty dollar and then one week after they leave the BIG HOUSE and hit the streets BANG BANG!!! they're dead.

You mean to tell me that the police should offer a reward for the capture of their killer? These type of people? If you think so you are IGNORANT!! Where these people come from?

Well the bible has taught us about those attorneys who are willing to sacrifice everything, peace and harmony and safety in the community and the even the peace and safety of people living in their own homes, to get their clients free, when they know what his/her deeds are and know what their client does ***not *** intend to be a peaceful, law abiding citizen once they get free of whatever charges they have on them... so their time is coming. Their judgment is in a higher court and a greater judge!

Most of us provided an incentive and also I know they could be acquiring quite a lot of cell phone calls, however I can not touch upon whether or not the law enforcement officials has brought an exclusive interest. I believe all the cases, just about all homicide cases, tend to be similarly significant. They've already the palms total. I find it, I’ve tried using phoning the authorities many times and in addition they simply could not even talk to us due to the fact they’re chaotic. I know they’re performing the most beautiful.racing games
