Winners named for Antique Auto show

The Antique Auto Club of The Bahamas held its 27th Annual Antique Auto Show last weekend.

The show moved a little east from its normal venue – the Arawak Cay Fish Fry – to the big tent erected for Bahamas Speed Week Revival in November.

A club spokesman said: “Having used the Cultural Centre (Fish Fry) for the last dozen or so years, we weren’t quite sure how it would work out, but as the tent was available we wanted to try it. We had some challenges working out the logistics but, in the end, with fingers crossed on Saturday morning we were ready and the change was worth it.

“Many favourable comments were received from club members and other participants as well as the 2,000 plus visitors that came to both look at the vehicles and purchase steak and chicken dinners from our cook-out.”

Through the day, nearly 1,400 dinners were served.

Some 50 plus vehicles were on display competing for trophies in the various classes. In addition, the show included children’s attractions including a bouncy castle, pedal cars and a Junkanoo rush-out by volunteers from The Valley Boys. A children’s art contest was also held, the tenth year it has been part of the show.

President Don Pinder said: “For the past few years, we have been working on making the show a family event, by including more things for the children.”

The cook-out is the main fund raising part of the annual event with all proceeds going to charities involving children.

“This year, we are again working with the Sir Victor Sassoon Heart Foundation, specifically to help with medical expenses for ten-year-old William Farrington’s heart surgery (to correct a hole in his heart) scheduled for mid-April.”

The day also featured a raffle with a flat screen TV as first prize as well as a number of other prizes.

ChuckF says...

Here's what the crooked lawyers of the Bahamas do with their ill gotten gains. They parade their shiny clean cars in hopes you won't see the owners true selves... pure filth.
