Minnis: Govt more lost than missing airline jet

OPPOSITION Leader Dr Hubert Minnis questioned yesterday whether a “gag order” was put on Prime Minister Perry Christie by the “higher ups” in the Progressive Liberal party for allegedly embarrassing the organization.

Speaking with The Tribune, Dr Minnis said the Prime Minister’s recent statements in the press prove that he, as well as the PLP, are “completely ineffective and lost”.

The latest blunder, according to Dr Minnis, is the difference of opinion on the dates of the constitutional referendum between Dr Bernard Nottage and the Prime Minister.

“This government is more lost than the Malaysian Airline the world is looking for,” Dr Minnis said. “The Prime Minister said the referendum will be held on or before the end of June and now Dr Nottage is in the papers being quoted as saying something else. Nottage was silent while the Prime Minister was making all the statements on the referendums, now it seems as though the PLP has put a gag order on the Prime Minister because he has made so many missteps – the mortgage relief, real property tax, the Ishmael Lightbourne situation, the promises of jobs and crime. It appears that the Minister responsible for the referendums is now taking control and a gag order has been put on the Prime Minister.”

Dr Minnis said it seems as if there are many “mini-Prime Ministers” running the country instead of one man doing the job correctly.

“Who is in control of this country?” he asked. “A minister says one thing and the Prime Minister says the next. Do they even have Cabinet meetings? Who is in control here? It seems they are a party of 20 Prime Ministers with everyone speaking independently. The lost Malaysian airline is a joke compared to how lost this government is. It’s like they are guessing how to run this country.”

All Comrade Minnis does sees is dead people. On this Bahamaland day in da year of we Lord, the reds leader turned sic jokester but needs to learn how to practice more sensitivity than sensationalism hype, after all, ya is not Loretta who never seems know when stop mak'in them. Whats going trigger his mind next, mak'in jokes about the South Koren's ferry capsizing, resulting in the loss of many lives and hundreds of still missing youths? Minnis jokes about dead people resting undiscovered at bottom of da ocean. Unbelievable sic commentary by any political party's leader.

He's right but incomplete, what's missing is the fact that this analogy applies to his party as well. Same b.s different resigme. Whose leading the FNM him or Mrs. Butler Turner. Hard to tell.

It was distasteful for Dr. Minnis to use the tragedy of the missing Malaysian jet tragedy in such a way. It must all come from a very cold heart.

Dr. Minnis said he did not take the press with him to the Berry Island fire. Dr. Gomez did. But he sure did take the press to watch him cut cake. Dr, Minnis should be asking him self the question "Who is the Leader of the FNM party??."..

The reds were 'rightly" quick to jump all over Pot cake for jok'in in House about slapp'in his girlfriend. What will Loretta, Daron, and Dr. Duane do now? Comrades of the red leader Minnis should not only distant themselves from such "irresponsible” remarks by their party's leader, over the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, but Minnis should formally apologize to the Chinese and Malaysian people, through their diplomatic representatives.

SP says...

Who cares who is leading the FNM?

No one with sense is going to vote for a party that gave away strategic state asset for less than 20% of it's actual worth, gave a foreign company $300M to take out of the economy for road works that local companies could have participated in, decimated the middle class, and sold $40M in blue collar work permits allowing over 26,000 foreigners to take jobs that Bahamians could perform & leading to the currant crime wave and destabilization of the entire country.

The FNM is officially off the table for good.....Go to hell Minnis and the FNM!

It's a real stretch to equate the two, he would have had to have claimed to have done something to cause the plane to malfunction for any equivalence claim to stick...

I agree with u that he could have done without the comment, he didn't go as far as the QC student, but still distasteful

Ignore my advice and don't be surprised, if the official opening of Baha Mar turns into an embarrassing "Know Show Event?" The Christie administration have a knack for taking whatever seems to be the most round-a-bout way when it comes to responding to their blunders, but Comrade Minnis in neither a PLP or a a stupid man, so he must now realize you cannot say such insensitive things with the potential of international consequences, all in an effort to ridicule PM Christie and his ministers and MP's. If this is all Minnis and his Loretta's, Daron's and Dr. Duane's are interested in, they need to gracefully step aside and stop misleading Bahamalanders that they are worthy of being Her Majesty's Loyal (government in waiting) opposition. To score cheesy political points by insulting the greiving families of the missing and presumed dead passengers and crew, aboard the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, reflects badly upon the entire red shirts leadership, and unfortunately on all we Comrade Bahamalanders.

Red shirts members gone cheap on Minnis, Loretta, Daron & Dr. Duane. Comrades even at the risk of running afoul of da law I must take my chances, cause it tis my moral, steadfast obligation to shed sunshine onto this secretly recorded video, of which you will see for yourselves, captures the latest "Tucks It In Da Bucket" fund-raising plea by the red shirts party's never before seen Comrade Chaplin.

I see all the criticism of Minnis, and have to laugh. Unfortunately what Minnis says is true. The PLP government is led by a blathering, loquacious retard who makes grand pronouncements without any grounding in reality, and all the PLP apologists can do, is criticise Minnis? WTF? Christie is off his rocker in la-la-land and nobody cares, and he is the one leading the country. Bahamians deserve the hard times that are a-coming. A brainless nutbar who can't string decent, coherent sentences together is at the wheel of this country. Lawd help us all.

What is it that could have possibly motivated the Honourable Comrade Minnis as the Leader of Her Majesty's Official Opposition Party, leading into this sacred Easter weekend to act so irresponsibly. Wouldn't you think Minnis would have had enough common sense to withhold his insensitive statements whilst the search continues for the vanished without a trace deadly Malaysian Airlines plane? It's as if Minnis will say or do anything to save his leadership role as head of the reds, even if it means he has to gather his unruly crowd of reds into Rawson Square, who are more than eager to lead a hand, when it comes to politically crucifying PM Christie.

What does sacred Easter weekend have to do with anything? You are castigating Minnis for correctly pointing out that we have a bumbling, ineffectual, do-nothing, know-nothing Prime Minister? Talk about shooting the messenger -- although anyone with even half a brain (looks like very few in that category here) can see that without Minnis saying so.

Comrade Banker, hopefully Minnis thinks differently than you and will publicly acknowledge by early Tuesday morning, that he has learned something about not blending (sic) attempts at political humour with human tragedy.

You will do well to remember that the FNM Government has been in power for 15 years of the last 22 years.. So You who calls yourself Banker must know that it is the FNM party who has driven the Bahamas into the Ground, Now you must remember that the FNM did not bring one single investment into the Bahamas, And you should inquire into all the free land they gave the I Group. and my God cable and wireless must have asked is there any body in the Bahamas dumber than this group when they bought BTC? it was like taking a milk bottle from a baby, and not one Ms. Turner or Dr. minnis said no this is wrong. But we understand they were afraid of their Papa. What about you are you afraid also?

Shoot the messenger if you have to. It doesn't heal the empty head of Perry Gladrocks Crisco-Butt. If you recall, the world suffered through the greatest depression in 2008 since the Great Depression of 1930, and the Right Honourable Hubert Alexander Ingraham kept the country afloat through FDR type infrastructure spending that the PLP let go to hell. The reason why the Bahamas is in the straits that they are, is that uneducated, narrow-non-global perspective people as demonstrated here, cannot see past getting a ham or a rent payment to vote PLP. If we had a more literate, knowledgeable voter body who recognised early the damage that the Pingdomites, sodomites and druggites were inflicting on this country and took them out of power at the first sign, then we would be the Switzerland of the Caribbean. Instead we are the laughing-stock ignoramuses who keep voting in a corrupt, brainless, PLP stricken with extreme n!ggeritis. AND, you guys are perpetuating it. God Bless you anencephalic wonders.
