Did I hear our Government say they knew how to deal with crime as an election promise??

So sad, I remember when you could walk anywhere in Nassau anytime of the night and not be afraid, but not anymore. I am wondering if they are just killing on contract or just killing because they have access to the guns. Young people be careful as you kill today and tomorrow will be your day to be killed.

It almost seems ironic and superficial to see up to a dozen police vehicles, most of them brand new, rushing to the scene of another murder. Day after day after day. The fact is that despite the police being given more equipment, including cars, crime continues to escalate. CRIME including murder. Close to 2,200 persons have been murdered in the Bahamas over the past 44 years, and almost 40 have been killed in less than four months of 2014. The troubling trend is that the age of killers tend to be getting younger (many are 16, 17 and 18 year olds), and women or young females are now more frequently being the target of gun shots. While the money on new vehicles and equipment for the police force may have not been money misspent, as it allows the police to operate more efficiently, there has yet a dent to be put in crime, especially murder. The police cannot stop crime, at least, not by themselves. The social fabric of this nation has been stretched and torn, to the point where we are no longer our brother's keeper and the economy, especially for the poor and some middle class is in such shambles, it is more an every man for himself and a dog eat dog world. In fact many of our young men live by the motto, "get them before they get you". We are to the point where family members are killing each other and not knowing they are related until after the fact. But what about the spiritual part of Bahamians? WE say the Bahamas is a Christian nation. What about the commandment that says, "Thou shalt not kill" or the scripture that tells you how many times you should forgive your brother? Are we neglecting to teach our young people proper moral and Christian values?Should money be spent of parenting classes and to rebuild the Bahamian family? TWO THOUSAND, TWO HUNDRED MURDERS IN 44 YEARS! Bahamians killing Bahamians.
