EDITOR, The Tribune.
As I observe the way the present government is managing the Bahamas, it seems they have made a sharp turn off-course, especially with respect to their “Charter of Governance” (Manifesto) that was promised to the Bahamian people.
Truly, they are beyond the analogy used by Dr Hubert Minnis, who likened the present government to that of the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. The only evidence the world has of the flight is that the plane took a sharp turn off its charted course.
The families of the missing flight are holding the Malaysian authorities accountable for failing to act quicker when the plane went off its charted course.
I would go as far to say the present PLP government is acting in the same way as the captain of the Ferry fiasco in South Korea.
I concur with the South Korean president (Park Geun-hye) who called the actions of the sunken ferry’s captain and some of its crew “unforgivable, murderous”.
The S Korean president added: “Legally and ethically, this is an unimaginable act.”
She was speaking to the new information coming in from investigators that indicated that a little boy notified the crew that the Ferry was in trouble.
However, it is alleged the captain insisted everyone must stay-put, because the water was too cold and the sea current was strong.
The captain and crew eventually jumped ship, leaving over 300 passengers, many of them young students, trapped in the ferry to perish.
On that note, I praise Dr Hubert Minnis on speaking out in dramatic fashion to emphasise the state of affairs in our country, as Her Majesty’s Queen Elizabeth’s Loyal Opposition.
Dr Minnis’s statement really struck a nerve in the PLP and got all of their “waters running”.
This government thought no one was paying attention, and, like the little boy on the South Korean Ferry, they all thought he was being ignorant.
I suppose they were saying “…how could a little boy notice something is going afoul and we don’t.”
The result is history… total disaster.
Dr Minnis, please continue to apply pressure on the government because the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
