THREE men were arraigned in Magistrate’s Court yesterday in connection with the seizure of $2m worth of marijuana found on a boat in waters off New Providence.

Devard Dames, Randolph Mackey and Norris Neely pleaded not guilty to four charges before Magistrate Andrew Forbes and were denied bail.

They face one count of possession of dangerous drugs with the intent to supply; conspiracy to possess dangerous drugs with the intent to supply; importation of dangerous drugs; and conspiracy to import dangerous drugs.

Dames, a 37-year-old resident of St Albans Drive, Mackey, a 39-year-old resident of Charles Drive, Faith Gardens, and Neely, a 42-year-old resident of Faith Avenue, were remanded to prison.

However they have the opportunity to apply for bail in the Supreme Court.

On July 31, DEU officers intercepted a 30-foot Midnight Express boat 30 miles southwest of New Providence around 2am. A search of the vessel revealed a large quantity of marijuana with a street value of $2m.

The trial is set for November 26.
