The selection committee for a suitable candidate for President College of Bahamas must be so exhausted after their most extensive search to find Comrade Dr. Rodney - like around the damn corner. They wouldn't even be entitled to claim reimbursements for traveling gas monies for they cars.

I would have thought that the candidate pool would have been much larger so that such a controversial person would not have to be elected twice. The selection committee must have only put forward a handful of names. Pick from 1)Dr. Smith or 2)a kid out of high school or 3) a bum or 4)a Tiger shark or 5)a calculator. If given those options I too would have chosen Dr. Smith.

I am not surprised Dr: Smith was given the post. It does not make sense to ask persons to search for a president. they do all of that work and when they choose some one, Because some say they do not like the person you have chosen . their work become worth less and their judgement bad. Imagine all the learned invitees from across the US and the Caribbean, all with one thought on their mind, *they must really be a nation of dummies if a self admitted plagiarist is their best choice for university president*.

This government is on a really serious payback campaign...what's the name of the doctor jailed in Panama again? I guess the only thing preventing him from being appointed say head of PHA or Minister of Health was his minor incarceration problem.

Wasn't it this same Comrade minister of education who told the media like months back that he had launched an investigation into the hiring of a North Andros High School principal who had been convicted and served a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted for manslaughter in the death of his girlfriend in a domestic dispute? Amazing how lazy the media have become at holding any minister accountable for their promises. Can they just say anything and then fear no reporter's followup? Wasn't there also a minister of the crown who as acting attorney-general had set aside serious charges against an accused? Again, no reporter from the lazy press gallery has bothered to ask further questions?

Sadly, this story is not quite accurate, and the truth is even worse. Minister of Educational Genius Fitzgerald "affirmed the recommendation of the College Council to appoint Dr. Rodney Smith as President of The College of The Bahamas." The next step, before Dr. Whosespeechisthat becomes president, are contract negotiations. Surely, this government of lookoutforyourbuddies is going to ensure that he'll fleece the already broke, underfunded institution before the appointment becomes official.

The other 3 candidates were two Dr Careys. Both held Executive posts in USA Universities. The third was Dr Olivia Saunders, an excellent candidate who used to be the Dean of The School of Business, at COB, before demitting so as to finish off her PhD dissertation. She is without a doubt the best choice. As I mentioned before, Dr. Whosespeechisthat was forced to resign from Ramapo College here in New Jersey after the faculty had a vote of 'No Confidence' in his abilities. Nobody from the search committee has ever mentioned that. They don't mention that he was in charge at Sunland School in Freeport, but only lasted 8 months....
