The Bahamas department of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning from until 6:15 pm this evening.
A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for Mayaguana, Inagua, the Turks and Caicos islands and their adjacent waters.
At 4:00 pm satellite imagery showed clusters of thunderstorms associated with a trough from Tropical Storm Cristobal extending across the area.
Some of these thunderstorms will be strong to severe at times causing strong gusty winds, dangerous lightning, heavy downpours, hail and possible waterspout or tornado activity. localised flooding could occur in low lying and flood prone areas.
Boaters in the warning area should seek safe harbour and residents in the warning area should stay indoors and away from windows as conditions worsen. Residents should not seek shelter under trees or in water as these can become lightning conductors.
