AN 18-year-old youth is in police custody after he was caught “red handed” raping a woman on Sunday.
A suspect was caught during a special police operation aimed “at disrupting crime groups and targeting persons involved in criminal activities”, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Stephen Dean.
According to police, officers received an anonymous report of a sexual assault in progress at a home on Shirley Street off Balls Alley.
Officers from the operation team responded and caught the suspected teen “on top of the woman, red handed”.
He was arrested and taken into police custody. Police also recovered an illegal firearm from the suspect.
During the operation, police also arrested 30 other persons for a number of offences, including armed robbery, possession of dangerous drugs and outstanding warrants.
Police also seized two illegal firearms.
In the first incident around 10pm on Sunday, officers executed a search warrant at a home on Peach Street, where they arrested an 18-year-old male after they found an illegal handgun in his possession.
In the second arrest around 11:30pm, officers from the operation team arrested a 23-year-old male after they found an illegal handgun containing ammunition in his waist at Arawak Cay.
Meanwhile, police are appealing to citizens to continue to offer their support and report suspicious activities.
Wanted persons are also urged to turn themselves into the police immediately.

Did ACp Stephen Dean just lie to us by saying "A suspect was caught during a special police operation aimed “at disrupting crime groups and targeting persons involved in criminal activities”, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Stephen Dean.
#According to police, officers received an anonymous report of a sexual assault in progress at a home on Shirley Street off Balls Alley.
#Officers from the operation team responded and caught the suspected teen “on top of the woman, red handed”. when the is a very believable audio recording account of what actually happened being circulated. C'mon now Dean. See why we don't believe you guys?

I was thinking the same thing. Just goes to show how they cover these crimes. They want us to think they have crime under control when truth be told it isn't. Social media just exposed it. Further, why take the glory for stopping a crime when you did not know it would happen in the first place. The way the statement reads, you would think that the police knew the perpetrator was about to commit the act and intercepted him. Makes you wonder what else they cover. Hmph!!!
