Three arrested after armed robbery at Harbour Bay

6.30pm UPDATE: Police have taken three men, aged 33, 32 and 18, into custody in connection with Monday morning's armed robbery.

POLICE are investigating an armed robbery at the parking lot in front of First Caribbean Bank in Harbour Bay this morning.

According to sources, a man was about to make a deposit when he was approached by two men armed with handguns. They robbed him of a deposit bag containing an undetermined amount of money and escaped in a waiting vehicle.

No one was hurt during the robbery, and business operations at the bank were not affected. The Tribune understands that the deposit bag did not belong to First Caribbean Bank.

Please tell me they got video of this holdup? Why don't we have armed guards? You know how many times we could have taken these fools out? The criminals KNOW they will get away with whatever they do. Fearless. Threaten whatever you want, jail, hangings, but really, if you armed the law abiding citizens and the lawful private/ independent security guards that we pay to protect us, things would be in favor of the LAW ABIDING CITIZEN. You cannot hire enough police to protect, and tell me someting, who the hell are they protecting anyway? The way I see it, the government is keeping the criminals in business by not allowing us to protect ourselves in any way we see fit. Slavery to this system is what we are a part of.

Arming Security Guards will only prove disastrous. There will have to be proper training of how to carry, and when to use. All of that will also cost companies extra money in securing firearms, proper storage, and managing who has a gun, how many bullets etc. Then the 'professional' security guards will really show out whilst the ones who are just in for a pay check will probably be weeded out thus reducing the amount security guards, in turn allowing more regulations and standards for the Security position which is a lot of what most of these security officers 'dont' have. The best bet is to just become police officers. Security guards and companies dont have enough collateral to deal with the possible mistakes by these persons. Its too much of a collateral affect of arming security officers and citizens. Not everyone is responsible enough to conduct themselves let along carry a gun also. These security companies are only good for observing and reporting to police, that is it. Arming securities will of course produce more problems.

We will soon be a currency free nation, where everything is done with plastic (debit/credit cards). I pay my bills online so I don't have to go to the bank and be very mindful when using ATM

Is it the bigger the headline print size the more targeted is their fear objective? Not exactly sure what the Tribune's real objective is for rushing to headline every single holdup? Maybe they think Bahamalanders, residents and tourists alike are in need of some extra sacred dead stiff headlines coming down from upstairs over at Shirley and Deveaux Streets? But what do I really know when it comes right down to motives,

Time to arm private citizens. Yes , there will be an increase in domestic killings if Bahamians continue sweetheartiing, but these can easily be prosecuted and the rest of us can at least defend ourselves from being gunned down in the streets like helpless dogs as Government and Police have proven useless.
