Woman arrested for multiple housebreakings

A 27-year-old woman of Garden Hills is in custody after she was arrested on Thursday in connection with several housebreakings in the eastern area of New Providence.

According to reports, shortly before 8pm, Eastern Division officers, acting on intelligence, executed a search warrant at the woman’s Lady Slipper Drive home, where they uncovered a large amount of electronic appliances and jewellery.

Police suspect the items were stolen from several homes in the eastern area.

The woman was taken into custody and is being questioned by police.

Police are also questioning a 34-year-old man of South Beach in connection with a number of armed robberies. He was arrested minutes after he committed an armed robbery on Thursday evening.

According to reports, shortly before 7pm, police received a report that a restaurant on Arundel Street and Mt Royal Avenue was held up and robbed by a lone gunman. Police responded and received a description of the suspect.

A short while later, Mobile Division Officers arrested the suspect, who fitted the description, nearby. Police also recovered from the suspect cash and personal items taken during the armed robbery.

The suspect is being questioned by Central Detective Unit officers regarding this and other armed robberies.

A 58-year-old man is in custody after he was arrested for drug possession.

According to reports, shortly before 8pm, Northeastern Division officers on patrol on Peach Street arrested and took the suspect into custody after they found him in possession of a quantity of marijuana packaged for sale on the streets of New Providence.

The officers also confiscated an undisclosed amount of cash found on the suspect believed to be the proceeds of crime. Investigation into all of these matters continue.
