The eight-year-old Bahamian pastry chef

TAYLOR Moxey is living proof that age does not limit your ability or ambition. After being the first Bahamian featured in Immerse Bahamas’ inaugural campaign “Bahamians You Oughta Know” back in February 2014, this eight-year-old dynamo is quickly making a name for herself in the United States as a rising star in the culinary world with her handcrafted award winning cookies and cupcakes. Just type her name in any search engine and the results will quickly display the many websites that are now sharing the story of this young Bahamian-American phenom, who defeated adults and trained chefs to win first prize in the KISS Country Midtown Miami Cornbread Competition in Florida. Her beaming confidence and infectious smile can be seen daily on the billboard advertising her business in the Midtown and Design District.

According to her father, Vernon Moxey, Taylor’s business has earned her thousands of dollars to date and she donates a portion of her sales to dyslexia awareness efforts. Taylor is committed to using her platform to help others, a lesson taught to her by dad her mom, Dr Fabia Moxey.

So what does the immediate future hold for this budding entrepreneur and ambitious pastry chef? Since being featured on WPLG Local 10 on June 1, Taylor has becoming an internet sensation, whose story reportedly has been shared over 40,000 times and has appeared in papers in the UK, Africa and across the US. Taylor was also interviewed on Good Morning America on Wednesday, June 4. As for her long term goals, Taylor says “the rest of my cooking career is to just fly free and have my own bakery”.

Look out world, here comes Chef Taylor!
