THE New Providence Softball Association, with the past two plsying nights called off, will now resume play in its regular season on Thursday night at the newly renovated Bankers Field at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex with a double header on tap.
The league had to postpone its games on Saturday night because of the Labour Day holiday weekend. Games that was set for Tuesday night was rained out. The league will play two make up games on Friday night. Then on Saturday night, there will be a Father’s Day special.
During Saturday’s double header, the league will honor three former male coaches in the league. They are Ronald Major, who coached the Appleton Stars in the 1970s and the 1980s, along with Jack Knowles, who also coached the Appleton Stars and the Beck’s Bees. The other is Robert Gilbert, a coach of the Del Sol Arawaks.
On the last playing night last week Thursday, the Sigma Wildcats stopped the College of the Bahamas Lady Caribs 14-4 via the ten-run rule. Photos by Tribune photographer Tim Clarke showed some of the action from the game.
