A woman was tackled by police officers in the House of Assembly this morning after she attempted to grab the mace from the House Clerk.
According to reports, the Clerk and the Speaker, Dr Kendal Major, were about to walk into the chamber of the House when a woman in the gallery lunged at the Clerk attempting to grab the mace. Dr Major attempted to stop the woman which lead to a brief struggle. He fell on the woman during the tussle.
The woman then got into another altercation with a plain clothes officer, who eventually subdued her and escorted her outside.
Dr Major has called for a psychiatric evaluation of the woman.

This is just the beginning. Not even two years into the term, and people are already sick and tired with the follies of Perry's administration.

I hope we get the full story... Though I wouldn't expect it from the Tribune.
If it has anything to do with her attempting to assert her rights, or procure speaking time, then massive, massive respect. It's the beginning, and won't end, if this turns out to be the case.
The frustrations are finally starting to show, and I pray that Bahamians finally wake up, and no longer let us sit idly and watch them ruin our country, its future, and the blatant disrespect they've afforded young Bahamians.

She probably voted PLP and this was a way to show her displeasure. When Sir Lynden threw it out of the house everybody applauded him. Had I been in the DISHONORABLE HOUSE OF ASSORTED IDIOTS I would have applauded her actions.

the stress of SEVEN years of recession hardship is getting to everyone. And so they look to our leaders for relief. It may not be forthcoming because most of our leaders don't have the answers. Just spoke to someone who lost several businesses in the recession. He says sometimes he starts blaming himself and feeling that he failed his family and staff. He takes it personal to the point of doing something stupid. But when he talks to other people who are going through similar situations, it keeps him sane. No one seems to know when and where this will all end. But we need to be our brothers keeper, support one another. I think a cabin on ta family island away from the stress and insanity of Nassau is in the making.

They need to take this lady to PMH & get her a proper psychological evaluation and remove her image from this site.. Obviously there is something going on whether it be stress, frustration, injustice or just plain madness.. Whatever it is, it has pushed her over the edge & the way she clinches that bible under her arms reminds me of my mom & aunts so my heart goes out to her. Take notice politicians there are many people stressed and frustrated with the harsh conditions and realities of life in the Bahamas, those that are part of the working poor or living in abject poverty after being driven to madness will one day pay u a visit..

Look who else be clutching onto their Bibles besides this Jesus loving Comrade Sister, and she probably really loves her Jesus for real? Poor Bahamalander's go court and risk taking a ride on Her Majesty's Fox Hill Prison bus, either from lack of cash for worthy legal representation, unable post bail or not being able pay they fines. Big shot higher-up Bozo's are told to go free and sin no more.

While I personally do not know this lady or what her intention was, I applaud her for at least getting off her butt and doing something! Even though it may/may not have been illegal, it will take random act like this and many others to make these politicians with elitist mentality know how unprotected and vulnerable they are! Hopefully, they will now start to feel a bit uneasy knowing that because of their actions stable or unstable people is starting to make their way to Rawson Square to pay them a visit. I do not advocate violence however even a child you birth and love need a tamarind switch on their backsides every now and then! This is a start, now what we need is those who KNOW the law to start to organize a movement doing more of the same, however LEGALLY according to the The Bahamas constitution. On another note, I find it quite interesting that these Bahamian Religious Extremist get all hot and bothered over everything EXCEPT when one of their own get catch with their pants down! With such incestuous relationship between politics and religion in The Bahamas, am waiting to see who have the "balls" to lock up a "woman of god" with a bible under her arm

This is what the Bahamian government is driving Bahamians to do............ the next person may hollow out a Bible and place an IED in it and then go to the House of Assembly..... and then what?????????????? We are taking these things lightly but these are desperate times for thousands of Bahamians. This government today is clueless........... they dont believe in the average Bahamian................ maybe the "goldies"
