PRIME MINISTER Perry Christie said yesterday the government will use its second anniversary in office as an opportunity to have an open discussion on the concerns of the country. Mr Christie said while the anniversary is a major achievement there is still much more work to be done – work the PLP intends to do with the help of the public. He is expected to make an important announcement next week.

“It is a major one for us, the second anniversary. It is a major achievement for anyone and I would wish to use the anniversary as an occasion where I can speak effectively to all of the concerns of the country as well as what I regard as achievements. So rather than take a spotted approach to it I want to have an organised approach to the second anniversary so I will organise something where I will speak on the issues.”

Mr Christie’s comments come a day after the Democratic National Alliance Leader Branville McCartney labelled the Christie administration’s second year in office as a “failure”.

Mr McCartney said Operation Safe Bahamas and Urban Renewal 2.0 – both plans on which the PLP campaigned on the combat against crime – have failed to have any impact.

“I don’t feel safe in this country,” he said, “I might as well put that on record. This government promised to deal with it and they have not. They have failed miserably to deal with the crime problem in the country. When I drive home, I don’t feel safe.”

It was the May 7, 2012, general election that saw the FNM defeated by the PLP. While the DNA won no seats in the House of Assembly they secured more than 13,000 votes. The PLP received 75,806 votes and the FNM secured 65,518 with the PLP winning by a 10,288 majority.

Its only a major achievement because despite ALL the crap, two-thirds of the voting populous have yet to make a unified effort to end this non stop circus. You want a discussion, lets discuss dissolving of government and retirement. Thanks.

Let's also pray for responsible, accountable leadership in the replacement. We need this before 2017, this country is sinking and I think they know it. 20million dollar non-budgeted contracts are flying out like crazy now.
